Abstract: In December 2025, the Second Interdisciplinary Academic Symposium on Humanistic City Studies, initiated by the editorial department of Exploration and Free Views, was held in Shanghai. With the theme “New Forms of Urban Civilization: Current Status, Issues, and Prospects”, scholars from various disciplines engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including “the generative mechanisms and practical pathways of new forms of urban civilization” “the transformation and innovation of traditional resources for urban civilization” and “new forms of urban civilization under digital transformation”. It presents several facets of these discussions from the dimensions of philosophy, literature, and media studies. Professor Jin Yongbing confronts the dilemma of homogenization and opens up three concrete pathways for humanistic city research. Professor Shen Xiangping, drawing on the theory of “new sensibility” as a dialogical resource, meticulously diagnoses the multiple forms of repression faced by urban sensibility in the digital age. Professor Sun Wei acutely captures how the logic of electronic games is increasingly permeating all levels of urban operations, revealing the profound reshaping of the relationship between humans and cities in the digital era.
